Wear ruby shoes!

“I'm melting, meeeeeltiiiiing!” Will say the fans of “The Wizard of Oz” once they see the modern versions of Dorothy's ruby shoes that Judy Garland wore almost 70 years ago. They are a dream!

Swarovski took advantage of this anniversary to gather together the best shoe makers of the world to redesign Dorothy's shoes. The main condition was, of course, to use Swarovski Crystallized crystals. Anyway, The most important aspect of Dorothy's shoes is the shine.

The participants in this project are: A. Testoni, Abaeté, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi and Tuleh.

The official launching will be at Saks Fifth Avenue (New York) and during a gala at the Designer Shoe Hall on September 4th. After that, the shoes will be exhibited around the United States and, finally, at Bryant Park Tents during the New York Fashion Week. All the money collected will be donated to Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
